A3 top plastic engine cover
Am a proud new owner of A3 and was wodering how you remove the top plastic engine cover to see what is underneath?
Also, where are the Oil Filter (chamber) and Air Filter located? I have a feeling once I remove the top cover the two will be visible. Nice looking engine, a bit cramped.
Fun little car!!

Welcome to the family. If you hang out here, you'll learn quite a bit.
Ill let opne of my IT guys answer your technical questions, because I just yanked on the engine cover and it popped right off. It has some rubber grommets that the plastic sniddle bits under the engine cover fit directly into. Like I said you'll see a tech answer soon enough. At any rate, welcome.

I didn't want to yank on the cover fearing I'll snap something off...
Might there be a special tool to do so, ir is it as easy as just yanking it off the plastic snaps? I am sure if it so, after a few trys the plastic will get looser and will snap off much easily....
Thanks for the tips anyway....

use firm yet finesse force to pull up, too hard you might snap the cover, too soft the cover won't
come off, when it finally pops off, you might see some flying grommets...good luck!

The best way to remove a virgin engine cover is to ...
pull up hard on the left front corner with both hands then pull up hard on the right front corner with both hands. DO NOT TRY TO PULL UP AT THE FRONT CENTER! After you have popped the cover off the front pegs, you can use the same technique to remove the cover off the back (2) pegs. Put a small portion of o-ring lubricant on the EC grommets before you reinstall it. This will help considerably for future removals.
BTW, welcome to the A3 experience and forum...enjoy the ride ;-)
