My in-laws just purchased an '08 VW EOS 2.0T. Same engine obviously (I think) as the A3 2.0T that I have. I just drove the EOS and was really impressed by the quality of the interior and the hardtop convertible roof. The ride/handling is nowhere near the A3, but then again you don't buy the EOS for that purpose.

The one thing I really did notice is how much smoother the gear shifts were in the EOS vs the A3. Both have DSG, same engine, and I'm comparing both while driving in "D" (not manual or "S"). Any thoughts on why this is? I guess it could be "all in my head" but it seems pretty noticeable. Not for nothing, but I prefer the harsher shifting of the A3.

the main thing about the eos, which makes it very cleary inferior,
... is that only two of the wheels are hooked up to the motor

Fortunately this is being fixed in 2009 with the A3
2.0T with Q & DSG.

The V6 gas mileage is pretty bad.

Full Convertible > OpenSky But 5 Door > 2 Door... Rather a TT Convertible over EOS
