The sales guy at HBL seemed to know a lot about the car, but I think he we wrong when he indicated that the A3 could swap wheels with A4/A6. Given it's lineage, I would assume that the A3 (like the TT) uses the VW bolt patterns. I have a spare set of polished, forged A6 wheels, but I am assuming that they would not fit an A3.

This probably doesn't help, but I know the A8 wheel fits for sure, on an A3.
A3 offset is 56. Not fun.

A3 is a 5X112 just like all recent Audis other then the TT which is still 5X100
However the offset is strange at 56mm so most you can fit on average is about a 45mm offset wheel (mine just slightly rub with 12mm spacers on the stock 56mm but the car is currently slammed)
VWs are also not so consistant as you may thing.. Passat has been 5X112 since the B5 start in 98 and now with the Mk5 they are also 5X112, however both the passat and jetta have a normal offset. The NB since its still a Mk4 platform to my knowledge is probably still 5X100.
