Acceleration Oddness

Hello All,
My 2002 A3 1.8T is exhibiting some strange behaviour, if I accelerate constantly the engine seems to "jump" between 3 and 5000 revs, it sort of sticks. Its a manual car but the revs jump up and make it sound like an automatic! The car runs fine once constant speed is achieved, but accelerating is just plain odd. Someone mentioned to me about disconnecting the battery to recalibrate the ECU/fuel injection system, I might try this. Anyone seen this problem before?

It sounds like the clutch is sliping
Sure your not riding that clutch?
When you have the clutch changed the mechanic will look at the clutch and flywheel which will proberly be blue due to the clutch pedal being ridin. Then look at the clutch linkage to check if the problem was caused here, if so the Audi dealer will be able to change the clutch, flywheel and neccasary parts under warranty.
If there was no problem with the linkage then the problem will be caused by driver abuse and you will have to pay for the clutch and flywheel to be chaged.
The reson for changing the flywheel is that the it will now have hot spots on the face and potentaly an uneven face.

I have exactly the same problem in my 53 plate 2.0TDI, it's with the dealer today. I'm sure it's a clutch problem. It started with the revs jumping from about 2200 to 2800 but after it's been driven for 10 mins it will calm down. After several weeks of trying to convince the dealer there is a problem at all it now shakes badly from 1600 to 2000 RPM in third (6 speed box). I'll post an update tonight when i pick it up.
