Default Aftermarket Sirius questions...

I posted earlier about my situation/problem with swapping the XM module for Sirius.

I'm trying to prepare for what may be my only option: aftermarket.

Is it possible to install an aftermarket sat module with the stock headunit and still use the factory antenna in the fin?

How about an aftermarket headunit and module; can I still use the stock antenna?

Thanks in advance.

Default I am running aftermarket SAT w/ factory submarine antenna

see the signature link for CUSTOM STEREO.

I don't see why you can't get a sirius box to work, there are a list of things you need to check off.

is vag-com updated that you have sirius.
ie: run the xm box and see that IT works, then worry about switching carriers.

do you need a harness to switch sat boxes in the drivers side rear hatch.

is the box activated.

is the radio activated to run sat.

other than that, there shouldnt be ANY problems. I put an aftermarket alpine sirius tuner SAT box in the factory location, plugged in the antenna from the factory and it was on.

let me know if I can help at all.

Default I think you missed the point that his dealership is incompetent. . . .

I answered his question over on fourtitude.

Default had a similar xm to sirius swap

when the dealer "installed" my sat unit he claimed that the sat uplink wasn't working, planets not in alignment, come back monday...

looked at the instructions here:
http://spaces.msn.com/members/mcdonst1/Blog/cns!1pt6HJLQ8RUTj7GTLFugwSCA!178.entry

And I started checking all of the connections - turns out the muppets at service hadn't hooked up the cable on the passenger side kick panel - Once I plugged it in and turned on the car I saw XM, great, but I had pruchased Sirius.

Took it back to the dealer, ranted, and a day later I had Sirius rockin out. So I think they should be able to accomodate you.

Hope this helps.

Default I'm thoroughly confused

Based on the mix of posts here and on Fourtitude, I don't know what to do.

Some say it's possible, some say it isn't. Worst of all is that Audi Cust. Relations told the dealer that it's officially not possible, so theyprobably won't be willing to invest more service time/money into getting it working.

This whole situation is a cluster f---. The dealership promised me a swap. Can I tell them I want to return the car since they couldn't meet our agreement?????
