Default You're getting the convenience package that includes self-dimming mirrors...

the ECS split mirrors are non-Auto dimming only.

Isn't Auto Dim only on the rear view mirror and not the side mirrors?

Default I had them on another car, they were more annoying than effective.

Didn't help much at all with the blind spots.

Default Why not just adjust the mirrors the 'new' way?

No offense intended to our forum sponsor, and certainly not trying to detract from their sales. But I never understood the need for blind-spot mirrors when you can simply adjust your side mirrors to see most of the blind spots. That's the 'new' way that's been recommended by some insurance companies, motor assocs and driving schools nowadays.

Default The 'new' way explained...

Put your head in the middle of the car, above the e-brake. Adjust the right mirror so you can barely see the side of the car. Put your head against the left passenger window, adjust the left mirror until you can barely see the side of the car.

Now watch carefully as cars pass you\you pass cars. They should go smoothly from your side mirror to your rear view with no blind spot.

Takes a little getting used to and remember, you have to check both mirrors each time because there's almost no overlap.

Default Or for $140 get the best of both worlds...

More mirror coverage definitely won't hurt and the one scrape-up it prevents will pay for it. Support the sponsors! =)

Thats what I thought to. I think the auto dimming side mirrors must be for a A6 or A8.
