What's wrong with the existing brake system?

Default At first I thought the same thing

Then I started really driving the car and the stock brakes suck.

My jetta has the same size brakes in the front with smaller rotors in the back and it out breaks this car becuase of the weight hands down. The A3 is just way to heavy for the brakes on the car and any serious driving.

Default Is Brembo gonna come out with anything? If StopTech has, I'd

guess that Brembo would too.

So, you mean the stopping distances are longer? Can you get into the ABS with the A3? I'll assume you've already looked at tires, pads, and fluid changes?

If you're swapping to larger rotors for looks, that's one thing, but there are many other factors that can significantly impact braking that are much easier and more cost effective than a larger rotor/caliper combo.

Default I think he probably knows that already.

You're right though. Having bigger rotors and calipers does not always equate to shorter stopping distances and that's a fact. What it will do is minimize if not eliminate brake fade. Then pedal feel is much more solid as well. Maybe ss lines will do the trick for that though. Oh and yes, the BBKs look damn good!

If anything, a good set of tires will probably make a night-and-day difference. I'd like to try some Michelin Pilot Sport 2s if they were available.

Default They lose their bite quickly.. Its entirely a full fade but they don't last long

Going to a better pad would help but can also be noisy and wear down rotors fast.

Car already had coilovers which actually helped alot with dive and evened the car out alot.

Tires are dunlop 9090s that came on it.. While there are possibly some better tires they are far from bad tires.. Certainly not like the P6s that come on many of tehse cars.

I am not even swapping out larger rotors. I will be doing the boxster calipers on stock rotors they will just fit behind the stock sport wheels. The larger pad area will allow for the ability to use a pad on the street no harder then stock or just slighly but offer alot more area of pad on the rotor, which will help with fade. For track days if I ever do any (way to busy and other thigns I can spend money on at this point) Its much easier to swap pads out on the Brembo rotors then stock.
