I just think a sport wagon is not complete without roof rails.

Default yes, but Audi of America doesnt like things complicated

for whatever reason.

So I would expect an 'all or none' scenario. It seems they have chosen 'none'.

Default Contact Josh Decker at Achtuning to see about importing them.

Not sure about installation hassles, but if there is a market, Josh will bring in the stuff and sell it at a fair price.

Default I would think this market segment would want them...

My wife and I would really like to have an A3 to go along with our allroad but we may have to go with an A4 avant just because of the roof rails. We do prefer the looks and overall sportiness of the A3.

Default Good suggestion. I do agree about the installation hassles though...

I wouldn't want the roof of my new car drilled into.

Default There are no roof rack standard because Audi

does not want people to think of it as an A3
or a Station wagon.
It is not. It is a 5 door Hatchback.
You cannot market it as a Station wagon..

Default Interesting....

I think Audi has been quite successful as a purveyor of premium sporty wagons in the SUV-crazed US. The desirability of a premium hatchback in the US market is still questionable. I personally think that wagons are starting to catch on in the US as an better alternative to truckish SUVs.

You can just buy an A4 Avant if you want a wagon.

Can we get them through EPI or VagParts?

I agree, unless they see it as some sort of Golf
