I have the full AWE resonated exhaust on my A3 and it's too loud as a daily driver. The only thing I've found that may be quite a bit quieter is to purchase the Milltek reasonated cat-back that has two mufflers.
So my question is, has anyone here heard both of these exhausts? I'd hate to spend the bucks ($769 shipped and about $100 for the Milltek install) only to find out the Milltek is not substantially quieter. Ideally, I'd love to hear a lower throatier sound under aggressive throttle only. The AWE sounds great under that condition, but it actually has a loud drone under modest throttle that is driving me nuts.
PS, if anyone wants to buy my AWE reasonated section with tips let me know. I'm keeping the downpipe and 200 metal cell cat. It only has about 2,000 miles on it. And the tips have been shortened about 2-inches to not stick out as far.

I do like the AWE note better, but sometimes its just too loud, I'm thinking of getting another muffler welded in. I personally hated the Milltek because it was too quiet, and the non res isnt much louder than the res.

How much do you want for the AWE res cat-back? My wife is considering a GTI and, like me, does not like stock exhausts.
I assume it would fit a GTI, especially with shortened tips?
I am across the river from you, btw.

Oh, btw, I had a Milltek res, then a non-res, got fed up with both being too quiet and not being able to seal the leaks...sold it for a res AWE cat-back. It drones a bit, but I likey overall.

I hear there are fittment issues with the Milltek. Also the 90 degree and 180 degree bends make me suspect that I'll loose performance. It also seems pricey for what it is. Someone on the other forum suggested a Jetex exhaust. I sent an email inquiry to them, I'll let you know what I hear back. I believe they are made in Sweeden.
The AWE sounds fine to me except at around 2-3k rpms under modest throttle. Unfortunalty, living is a City I spend a lot of time in that rmp range in traffic.
