Default According to the Audi website the gear ratios are:

A3 T sport

Gear ratios - Manual gearbox 3.300 (1st) / 1.944 (2nd) / 1.308 (3rd) / 1.029 (4th) / 0.837 (5th) / 3.060 (R) / 3.684 (Final Drive)

A3 quattro

3.818 (1st) / 2.105 (2nd) / 1.345 (3rd) / 0.972 (4th) / 0.970 (5th) / 4.630 (R) / 3.316 (Final Drive)

S3 quattro

3.417 (1st) / 2.105 (2nd) / 1.429 (3rd) / 1.088 (4th) / 1.097 (5th) / 0.912 (6th) / 4.630 (R) / 3.316 (Final Drive)

I don't know, but couldn't you find out the top speed in 1st and work out what it would be in reverse calculated from the ratio of ratios?

I was thinking about the gear ratios the other day. In my A3 quattro 70 mph is exactly 3000 revs and I wish 5th was a bit longer and did 80 at 3000. Then I remembered the S3 has six gears but was surprised by the similarity between 4th and 5th. I thought they might have made 6th even longer. Is the difference between 6th on an S3 and 5th on an A3 very significant? Please educate an ignoramus!

Just addedd the T sport ratios to the above list and now I'm confused!
99 A3 quattro Sport

Default Doh! Almost answered myself

On the same page as the gear ratios for the T sport at least, is the Mph per 1000rpm - Manual gearbox.

It says

6.01 (1st) / 10.20 (2nd) / 15.17 (3rd) / 19.28 (4th) / 23.70 (5th) / 6.48 (R)

Don't know what the red line on a T-sport is? 6000? So that makes top speed in reverse 38.88 mph. Faster than 1st!!
99 A3 quattro Sport
