Default Anything new on the DSG clunking into first after coming to a stop? Valve body?

I'm getting ready for my 15K service and thought I would get this problem looked at. But I want to go in prepared since this is one of those "only does it when warm after driving xx miles" things that dealers love to pencil whip.

Haven't located a service bulletin, but there were a couple of people here with the problem. Any update and could someone tell me the exact fix from their service notes.

TIA

Default There is no valve body on the DSG. Electromechanical solenoids operate shifter.

But I know what you're talking about. Downshifting into 1st while rolling to a stop is the least smooth shift. Can hear/feel it clunk in. I think it's pronounced vs other downshifts because the engine rpms and vehicle speeds are low. DSG service (fluid/filter replacement) is specified at 35K miles so you have a ways to go, but that may improve lubcrication and make the shifts smoother. Fluid changes often help manual transmissions shift smoother, thus would apply to DSG also. However, I suspect what you're experiencing is perfectly normal, and I would just keep an eye on it to see if it's getting worse over time.

Default It is getting a bit worse...

I also heard mention here of something called the mecatronic (sp?) control unit, which might be at fault. At times, it feels like I've been rear ended as the car lurches forward. When it happens, all the shifts are decidedly less smooth and the initial start clutch engagement is rough.

Thanks for the info!

That doesn't sound right. I'd definitely mention it to the svc advisor at 15K.

it is the mecatronic control unit. I had mine replaced after several trips to service without it being properly diagnosed

I am having the same problem. It gets much worse when the temp is above 90. Not only do I notice a pronounced lurch when it shifts from 2nd to 1st it also jerks when accelerating from a stop. Also, in reverse it stutters. The problem is intermittent. i have had it in the shop and they kept the vehicle overnite but were aunable to replicate the problem. Let me know if you find out what the problem is.
