My A3 is at 12,400 miles, and a few months after the last dealer service, I checked my oil and found it down -- a lot.
I calculate my A3 is using a quart every 2,500 miles. The last 5 cars I've bought new have used no measurable amount of oil at all.
The dealer service person is making the usual reassuring noises, but I'm still taking it in.
Anyone else have this issue?

or more oil.
oil consumption depends on how you drive the car too (as i am sure you know).
btw, is your A3 your daily driver?
decent mileage for 1 yr. ownership.
any issues with the car?

Can you list them? That is not normal. The only other cars I know of that consume that much oil are rotary engines which use oil as part of the normal combustion cycle. (Mmmmm, RX-8...
) )
At over 12k miles you should be beyond ring seating time where consumption is often higher. At the risk of sounding stupid, what does the owner's manual say about oil usage?

This is not related to your question. Just curious since it sounds like you have your oil service at 10K. If I remember correctly the first oil service is at 5K, then 15K. Or this 10k is an extra one? Make sure you follow scheduled maintenance religiously or it may void your warranty.

I don't know anything about the 3.2, they are only recently available here in the US.
The oil consumption is absurdly high, in my experience, leading me to suspect something is wrong.
The car has a couple of 'bugs.' For instance about one our of every 20 times I turn the key, it sounds like the starter engages and stops -- as if it were losing the electrical connection.
The DSG also freewheels sometimes while (auto) shifting in corners, which is disconcerting. Also, in backing out of the driveway and putting it in drive, it initially 'feathers' the clutch excessively.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the car, though.

It did improve but 8 years later it still uses a quart every 3-4000 miles. Never had any issues related to the oil use.

I did my first service at 5K miles or so. Nt sure of the actual miles. I did it whenever the serice light came on. Audi actually allows you to go 12 months before the first service.

I check it every few weeks when I gas up, and consumption is nil now, with maybe 1/2 a quart used in the first few thousand miles. Engine feels like it's done breaking in now, but it kept feeling stronger up to around 8000 miles.
