Default audi a3 2007 air condicioning recall

Hi,

I had to take my A3 to audi because the air condicioning was not working properly. They told me that there was a recall on those models, and then they called me back to tell me that my car was not in that recall.

Have you guys know anything about this?

Default No, Audi hasn't issued a recall. A recall is used for safety and disasterous failure problems.

AoA did issue a service bulletin for those A3s that are equipped with Zexel AC compressors. They may fail by either seizing up or the shaft may fracture.

wow, no wonder my AC compress died on me twice within the last two weeks! I thought my car was an isolated incident.

Default Ahhh... got my hopes up. Mine "works", it is just crappy

About 100 today and my AC doesn't have a chance. Almost better off with the windows down.

Default I love this line from Clarkson when describing some unfortunate car's climate system:

"the air coming through the vents like an asthmatic wheezing through a straw."

Or something to that effect. I see some duffer with a bent straw sitting behind the firewall, huffing away ineffectually. Makes me crack up. In any case, this usually comes to mind on a warm day in the Ferrari ;-) Compared to that, the a/c in the A3 is somewhat effective;-)

Default Aahhhh...

...must not make.. smart remark.. about how terrible it must be.. to drive around in a toasty Ferrari...

I guess it is true that I'd much rather have my weak AC than nothing.

The bulletin is actually for both brands of compressors due to two different failure modes.

Default

Does it apply to all 2007 A3's, even those manfactured in last 2 months or so?

Default The TSB's apply to all 2006-2007 A3s with either Sanden or Zexel compressors.

It would depend on when your 2007 was built. I would guess that any built after March or so should have the newer compressor part. Mine was replaced in April with a new one.
