Thank you all for your feedback your responses have been brilliant. I've never used a forum before but now I intend to use it all of the time thanks to you guys :-)
I raced a Silver SLK yesterday on the A1 Hatfield and it pleases me to say the driver didnt have a chance.
Revving the engine all the way up to when the rotor arm kicks in and then shifting up quickly gave me brilliant results.
Dropping from 4th to 3rd was good for up to 90MPH.
After learning about the rotor i had a good few races yesterday. Took a Peagot 306 GTI at the lights and the SLK mentioned above on the A1.
I raced a Fiat Uno Turbo at the lights on the A406 North Circular and i was shocked!!!
He was ahead of me all the way up to 80MPH when I managed to overtake him! Gutted or what!!!! A £800 car beating a £25K car at the lights big sytle!
Even then I am still feeling a bit better about my car - though I still think my 205 GTI 1.9 could take it on easily up to around 100MPH and then the Audi would leave it.
So from what I have found I have the following if it is of any use to you :
1st gear max speed : 40mph
2nd gear max speed : 65mph
3rd gear max speed : 90mph
4th gear max speed : 120
5th gear max speed : 150*
*(the highest i've dared to go in it though it felt like it could go further).
When I got my engine checked out by Audi yesterday morning they said that they all have a theory re quattros.
They say that in the 1st 1000 miles the ecu sets itself to the drivers style. Whether this is true or not i dont know. So in theory if you drag the car when you 1st get it the ecu maps itself to that.
THis may be complete crap but Im just feeding back what the mechanic told me.
Question re powerchanges they sound like they could do some sever damage to my clutch?
Mines a company car so I need to look after it for 2 years till the next car comes up.
Would power changes ruin the clutch? From what I hear if used properly the clutch should last the lifetime of the car?
Thanks again and hope to hear from you guys soon.
Neil.
