Default Audi Club Question....

Does anyone here have a lifetime membership to Audi Club. Contemplating dropping the $600 to join. IS IT WORTH IT?

That's true. I could try it for a year. $44 USD isn't bad.

Default Major Benefit for me are the Driving Schools

Membership is required to attend Audi Club driving schools which I have been attending since 1999.

They are a blast and the local chapters who put together the events do a great job. They really put on 1st class events that emphasize safety and the instructors and other participants are a good group of people.

It's really a laid back atmosphere with newcomers readily welcomed.

I would recommend any Audi owner go to at least one event. What you learn about car control might help you prevent an accident or minimise damage and injury.

In regards to the lifetime membership I currently do the 3yr. $100 deal which equates to 18 years membership compared with $600 for lifetime.

I would also say give it a try for a year. See if you like and enjoy what the club has to offer. If you want to continue you'll have better idea if you think the lifetime membership would be a good value/risk for you.

Default You'll get to drive on track at high speeds but under a controlled environment

Depending on the track and it's facilities you'll have the opportunity to drive on a skid pad, participate in car control exercises attend classroom instruction classes and lap on the track at high speeds. You'll have an instructor in your car at all times. There is no competition/racing allowed at the events.

You are only allowed to pass in predesignated areas on the track and the driver in front of you must give you a hand signal before you can overtake/pass his/her car. Sessions last typically 20 or 30 minutes and there are 3 or 4 sessions per day. A typical track event will be held on 2 consecutive days. Drivers are divided into different classes based on their experience.

Below is a breif description of an upcomming event.
PCC's 7th Annual Fall Summit Point Driver Safety School will be held on Monday and Tuesday, October 3-4 this year. As with last year's event, Novice (Yellow), Intermediate (Blue), and Advanced (Red) groups will run four sessions each day (8 total) on the Summit Point Circuit along with participating in classroom sessions on both days. The Beginner (Green) group will spend Monday on the Jefferson Circuit completing car-control exercises, skidpad exercises as well as 2 on-track sessions before joining the other groups on the Summit Point Circuit for Tuesday's run sessions.

Default if you've never done an ACNA track event I suggest you join up and give it a go

usually best to go with a couple of friends with their audi's too. If you enjoy driving your car, this is like crack and is very addictive. It also gives you an opportunity to see just what sort of an improvement a modification can make.

At my first event earlier this summer my A4 was able to keep up with and pass more powerful cars due to it's well tuned suspension and brakes. The track events are geared towards teaching the correct line to drive a byproduct of doing so is the abiity to carry more speed through a turn. Shaking down an E36 M3 with a 50+ hp disadvantage and AWD drivetrain loss is a lot of fun. You really get an idea of just how important YOUR abilities are relative to the car's limits.

The pic in my sig is at an ACNA winter driving school. This is where they get you comfortable with the car sliding sideways and teach how to bring it back in line safely. In the pic I was completely sideways coming up the hill behind the car. Tremendous fun.
