Audi S3- Want to import

Why is the S3 not here. I own one back home in Asia and I'm desperate to get one in. What are the possibilities of importing it myself. Apparently if I can prove it similar enough to the A3 its possible. Does anyone know why it isn't in the States? Has a petition to get it in ever been filed ?

They've already got your money and the reality is that members of this forum(and ones like it) are the minority of Audi owners. Then there's the issue of how many people; who signed the petition for bringing the S3 to the US, would actually follow through and purchase one.

i'm guessing they won't bring the s3 to the u.s. for a few reasons:
1) hot hatches typically don't appeal to the u.s. masses. and when you factor in a strong euro, the market here wouldn't support a $40K-$50K hatchback
2) the r32 is sold here and they probably don't want one high-end hatch to rob sales from a sibling product.
3) because they KNOW all of us audinistas want one.
i'm hoping as a consolation prize, aoa will finally bring out a 2.0t quattro with a stick. i've got carpal-tunnel writing to santa every year.

I'd much rather see AoA make a serious effort to bring their diesels to the States. Or offer us the same options selection when buying a car that European customers enjoy. As it is, we're just getting table scraps.
