Default I'll take a shot at this; the blindspots I have are aspherical - they spread..

images out horizontally without much distortion, giving a wider range of vision. I can actually see a car in my passenger side mirror until its almost up even with me. A convex mirror is usually round, distorts like a funhouse mirror; makes everything appear farther away, but spreads out the mirrors field of view verticaly and horizontally. Convexes are those stick on mirrors you see on trucks 'n such, though they don't have to be round.
This is, by the way, an educated guess - no warranties expressed or implied.

Default are your aspherical blindspots also "split" like this?

Default Yes - just so. Those are nice mirrors. We older guys have a more limited

head turning radius, and they've saved my *** several times on our insane 169 expressway.

one nice thing about the round type is it lets you see curbs --- and they're CHEAP

Default are you referring to the convex ones that would let you see the curbs whereas the blindspot/split...

ones wouldn't? i definitely would need to be able to see the curb since i tilt down my mirror when i parallel park.
