Default blue tooth question

Once I have initiated a call and am connected using blue tooth, how do I enter additional numbers (tones) as when required to enter an extension number???

I called Audi of America and they're all confused over there...maybe somebody here can provide an answer. thanks

Default That's a good question

I don't think you can unless you use the cellphone to dial the number while you are connected

You could do it on your phone. Sure, it defeats the purpose of handsfree, but it'll work.

Default You could do it on your phone.

Yes I am aware of that option, but then as you say, what's the point of hands-free? in this age of voicemail and automated phone systems, how could Audi not think of this?

Default Try programing the extension into your phone using pauses...

...it may not work depending on the phone system your calling but it's worth a shot. Works for my work voicemail.

Default I don't think there's any way to do it other than the phone.

FWIW, I also don't think other cars with bluetooth or aftermarket bluetooth kits have this feature either. It's not just Audi. For example, the bluetooth in my in-law's TL doesn't have it and neither does my Motorola IHF-1000 kit.

Default The bad news is...

You can't as far as I can tell. I stayed up for a few nights with my few day old car.

How could they not? All the phones have this.

I am thinking of getting a mount for my phone so I can go back to dialing through the phone.

Very disapointing.

Default If you have NAV, you can enter it that way.

Otherwise, best bet is to use the pauses on your phone for checking vm, etc.

Default unfortunately, it appears that I will have to use the phone...

...this is a major limitation to the "handsfree" feature. and no, I don't have nav, got the map light accessory instead...way cheaper.

Default Re: blue tooth question

does any OEM bluetooth implementation have a way of solving this?

My Prius sort of does - you can call up an on screen numeric keypad, but you can't use it if the car is moving. LAWYERS!
