2010 A3 w/Bluetooth, HTC Incredible Phone w/Android 2.2 (Froyo)
The latest Android software has made great improvements to Voice recognition. When paried with my Plantronics Headset, by pressing the "Activate" button (on the headset), the Droid asks me for a command which I can respond to and the phone does it; like, "call John Smith at Work"
On my A3 Bluetooth system, I can't figure out how I can get the same feature; Press a button and have my phone ask me for a command. The "Speak" button produces a Beep, and the car wants me to talk to it directly.
So, the question, on the A3 can I bypass the the Audi voice system and have it connect me directly to the phone, like my Plantronics headset does? Ideally, the "Speak" button.
Thanks!

The Audi bluetooth interface only supports the "handsfree" profile--it can receive calls and dial calls. What you want can be done (indirectly) by programming the BT interface with the spoken names you want to call. It should be in your audio system manual.

Thanks.
Yes, I have programmed the bluetooth module with a name to a number. The nice part of the droid voice dialer; nothing to program. It listens to you words and find the right number to call.
On the A3 - I can't have a "Ben Mobile" and "Ben Home" as they sound too similar; least I can't figure out otherwise how to get that to work.
