Default Boot sensor problems - help please!!!

I have a y2000 model A3 TDi- a fantastic car apart from just one niggle -the boot sensor.

If you get in the car, and turn on the ignition, anywhere from 2-10minutes later the dash display will show the boot is open when it is NOT - if you stop and open and close the boot it solves the problem. When you go to start the car, if you put the keys in the ignition then open and close the boot it solves the problem....until you switch off and start up again.

The car has been into an Audi dealer - they replaced a sensor in the boot which cured it for about a week then the problem came back - they don't know the problem is!!!

I am told there are 4 steps between the boot being open and the info being relayed to the dash display - onviously I want a cheaper fix as possible but it is really starting to p*ss me off......

Default Re: Boot sensor problems - Sorted!

Actually v.simple in the end - and my local dealer DID NOT spot/sort the problem - myself and my dad did (and we aren't trained Audi technicians....!)

Just a rod which was part of the lever boot catch linkage was getting slacker and slacker until one day the boot couldn't actually be opened from the outside anymore and thats when I finally worked out what was going on......
