Default Break in? Is it a matter of opinion, theory or fact w/ regard to the 2.0T?

Personally, I've always increased my max RPMs incrementally starting at 3K, by 1K, about every 1k miles. That is to say when I kit 1K miles Id let the car get as high as 4K, 2k miles, 5K and so on. The question however is, I'll be taking a trip of about 5K miles or so (over a period of 2 weeks) 2-3 days of taking delivery. Could this extended highway driving while the motor was still new, potentially effect the proper "break-in" or is break-in really not an issue with these cars?

Default Makes sense. Essentially what i've done in the past but a shorter mileage threshold...

Howver, due to the fact that I'll be driving to New Jersey from Florida shortly after taking delivery, long intervals at a consitant RPM is going to be hard to avoid. Any recomendations on perhaps an "express" break-in procedure that can be used prior to my departure??

Default Bring a bunch of tunes that vary in speed a lot. Change your speed every time a song changes.

Upshift or downshift as songs change too. Avoid the cruise control.

Default Let me get this straight...

Your post was in answer to my original question and I was going to get back to it as soon as I took delivery, but since the topic popped up again, I'll just ask now:

When you say gradually increase rpms, I assume you mean visit higher rpms as you get closer to the 1,000 mile mark (check). But while you are driving, you mean to say one should ease up to X,000 and then down again and then up again and so on, increasing the RPMage (poetic license) as you increase the mileage on the car?
