breaking in an S3..
Is might be just me but the few 50 miles in a new S3 where rough! It seemed like there was a beast under the bonnet.
Has anyone else had the same experience? I almost took it to a dealer to check if everything was OK.
Very noisey.
200+ seems a lot smoother, though.
I had to lift the bonnet just to make sure I hadn't been given a desiel.

Re: breaking in an S3..
Hi,
I used to have an A3 1.8T Quattro (180bhp), and did exactly the same as you. I couldn't believe how rough and noisy it was at first, and I did indeed take it back to the dealer for checking !!
It does quieten down as it runs in, but it will never be as smooth and quiet as the 150bhp engine. As always, there is no such thing as a free lunch, and the extra power comes at a price !
I found that about 5000 miles is required before it becomes tolerable. Super unleaded petrol helps slightly too.

Re: breaking in an S3..
Done about 600 miles now. Been keeping it under 4000 revs - mostly.
Got a long trip planned soon, so it should be up to 1000 miles shortly.
I think your right, it isn't going to quieten down much more. Can't believe how different the engine is compared to the 150bhp 1.8T.
