Bye bye A3! Hellow A4 Avant!

hello,smart man
Neither car has huge rear seating area, but the A4 is bigger for sure. For shorter rides, normal sized adults fit in the back of the A3 just fine. Larger (6' & taller or 250 lbs or more) folks will not like the A3 much for more than 30 minutes I would guess. In the A4 Avant, the rear seat room is adequate for long trips for most folks I would think.

I've had my A3 for just over 2 years now, as a daily driver. Great car. Yes, it is ever so slightly smaller than an A4, but not significantly. I would say that the rear seat size difference is a little more noticeable than the front. I'm 6' 215lbs and found the lower part of the front seats a bit narrow at first, but got used to them in due time.
I think very highly of BMW engineering and exterior styling, but just don't warm up to the interiors. The A3 has a great interior, inspired by the Audi TT Mk I. I like the car so much, I'm very tempted to trade mine in for an A3 2.0T TDI. No need for Quattro, unless you live in the upper 1/4 of the USA. Otherwise, there's not enough snow and ice to make FWD a problem. The weight distribution of the A3 is excellent.

The new A4 has a lot more cargo area as we4ll... helps free things up. Although you'd be surprised what you can fit in a rooftop carrier... without having to mortgage the house to afford more cargo capacity.
