is it just me or does anyone else notice how loud the road noise is inside the 2.0t??? i replaced the Pirelli all-seasons with Michelin Pilots but sheeez the noise is numbing and i'm a young man!
BTW

Default Do you have Open Sky?

I test drove an A3 and noticed a huge amount of wind noise coming from the open sky (it was closed). When I mentioned it to the sales guy he closed the screen and the noise went away.

It makes me not want to buy the OS though.

Default Turn up the radio! j/k I don't think it's overly noisy at all - very satisfied with noise level

Now if they'd just get rid of the OpenSky rattle when it goes in for 5K service, I'll be completely satisified.

Default Michelin pilots aren't very quiet once they get some wear on them. I'd also check your alignment

settings to make sure you don't have any excessive toe-in or toe-out.

I've also noticed more exhaust noise from DSG models.

Default Yes, I pointed this out about 18 months ago.

My previous drive was a lot quieter. It hasn't got better or worse and I'm used to it now but (IMO) there is still too much road noise.

Default Yes, the A3 is louder than I expected. Swapping tires helps - as does keeping

the rear seats upright and the hatch cover in place. The Toyo T1R did quiet things down a bit, but for maximum reduction, I would look to the Dunlop SP9000 series.

Default Michelin PS2's are really loud IMHO

I love the way they handle and ride, but noise alone will drive me to a quieter tire when these wear (which should be soon based on the wear rate).

Default In my testdrive, I noted that it was too loud for my tastes... and at least

as loud as my diesel MK4 Golf on the highway. That's a deal-breaker for me.
