Carry bikes?

Carry bikes?
Would I be able to carry a couple of bikes in an A3? That is, of course, with the front wheels removed.
I can do this in a pinch in my 325i, but it's a hassle due to the standard trunk opening. The A3 has better loading access, but I think the load space is a bit shorter.
The dealer offered to let us take one home and try it, but I was just wondering if anyone can tell me their experience.
