Default ceramic rear brake pads...

i have the akebono ceramic front pads and love them, but their rear pads still have not come out yet. does anyone have any experience with hawk ceramic pads or any other ceramic pads? i am sick of cleaning the brake dust on the rear wheels...tia

Default Any difference in performance for the Akebonos, or just dust reduction?

Been thinking about spending the $83 at Tirerack and getting some. I hate brake dust!

Yes, they're very much worth it. Do the Tyrolsport front bushings while you're in there.

Default The tyrolsport bushings are bronze brake caliper bushings instead of the OEM rubber.

I have them, but personally don't think they made a whole lot of difference. I also have stainless brake lines which also hasn't affected the feel much. The brakes are still mushy under hard braking... Next step BBK, but that will probably be down the line much longer.

Default Don't know what it has to do with FWD; I'm referring to the caliper bushings

(sliders). Stock ones are a hard rubber material that allows movement and flex under pressure. If you replace these with Tyrolsport's
brass/oilite bushing kit, you'll get a significantly firmer pedal with less travel. Combining these with Akebono pads and a thorough bleeding makes a significant improvement in the A3's notoriously soft brake pedal.

Default Dam,yam, ya beat me again! I've been pretty pleased with mine- not a nite and day difference,

and you certainly don't get Porsche/track quality braking and feel, but it's been enough improvement that i don't cuss and rant about them - definitely better for street feel.

Default Carbotech bobcat on one car, stock on the other. Bobcats are a pretty close

match for Akebono in terms of dust, initial bite, and overall performance, but they cost out the yim-yam. $140/axle.
