Default Comment on new A3 US pricing...

In discussions concerning A3 pricing assumptions - much of the logic was based upon current A4 pricing, and knowing that Audi would want to keep A3 pricing lower than A4 (duh).

However, what was not expected was the tremendous price increase of the new A4 that is being released - it is now $1500 more expensive than the one it is replacing... just the base price of the lower end model - they're moving the price upscale. So much for Audi being the "value" brand.

This does NOT bode well for A3 pricing, because Ausi has more room to price higher and still stay away from A4 pricing.

Hmmmm... not good.

Default Just consider how cheap your car is in the US market...

In Europe where you'd expect Audi's to be cheap it certainly ain't the case...The cost of cars over in Europe is unreal...
As an example a Sportback 1.6L (which will not even be on sale in the US market) in Ireland is 30,000 Euro which is $38,572 UD dollars...a 3.2 Sportback is 45,750 Euro which is $58,823 US dollars...so I hope you feel a little bit better now

You also have to consider the value of the Dollar at the present time, Audi have not increased the prices of cars in the US for a long time but as the dollar has remained low they are now forced to increase the prices. They are a car company and need to make a profit...The Dollar value has been hurting them for a long time...

Default I disagree.

The A4 in the most extreme case is 1500 more and in some cases only a few hundred....on top of that some options have gone up in price, but some have gone way down (Sport Pkg). It almost all evens out.

The pricing that most of us are assuming is not comming from the fact on where the A4 is priced, its comming from the unamious voice of every major publication out there that confirms the 2.0T will be at 25K base and the 3.2 Quattro DSG will be at 30K base. Every major automotive publication say this exact statement. This has nothing to do with A4 pricing.

Audi knows they need to sell the car and be a hit, and having a loaded 38.5K 3.2 5 door hatch will not sell here. Not when you can get an R32 for under 30.

As I said, look for the 2.0T to be around 30 with all the bells and whistles and the 3.2 to be 35K.

Also, another thing to keepo in mind, you cant go price the new A4's options and throw them on a A3 to get a guestimate. The A3 is equiped entirely diffrent, for example, you cannot order Premium AND sport...its one or the other.

So far I have seen nothing but good leaning toward the pricing on the A3, with one rumor place the 2.0T base, 23.4K, since we cant figure the packages, but you can some options, for Nav+/MMI/Bose at under 2K etc....this car will fall in line very nicely.

The only option that would jack up the price and I hardly care for is the Sky View Roof. I dont use my sunroof now in the A4, let alone have people in the back.

Default The B7 A4 is still priced below a 325 or even a C class.

Wait until the new 3 series comes out and the gap will be even more widen!!

NSalvatore: could not agree with you more!!

You don't use your sunroof? I use mine constantly in the winter/spring.

Default Not at all...

It sucks out AC in the Texas Summers, lets in Dust and Dirt on the black interior making it a mess, and makes the tint on the windows from the outside looking in lighter, due to extra light comming in =)

Default Came standard on the Premuim PKG if I recall correctly.

That isnt a part of the Sport/Premium Pkg that you choose either or on the A3 Spec sheet...Sunroof only comes into play on the Sky View option I believe.
