My 1.8TQM B5 was totalled a few days ago so I am in the market for a new car. I am considering a new '09 2 liter or a used '06 with the 3.2l. I need quattro. If I bought the '09 I would most likely throw a GIAC chip in it asap. Any comments?

I really love my 07 3.2. I got it because there were no quattro 2.0T's out there. I've been driving with the 1.8 or 2.0 prior to that for years so it was quite a switch to go 3.2.
The 3.2 is nice and has plenty of power.
Two things i dont like. Gas mileage is terrible and the car *feels* heavy, probably because it is for such a small car.
I would expect the 2.0T would be more nimble feeling but would still be down on power over the 3.2. Not sure if the chip equalizes it or not but probably since the 2.0T would have a weight advantage too.
I'd say 06 though being the first year for the car in the states may be the year to avoid but thats just me.
I still have the best of both worlds with an 09 A4 Avant 2.0Tq and an 07 A3 3.2.

The '09 will be lighter and faster once chipped. Plus you'll get a slightly uprated interior, exterior facelift and faster responding quattro; plus virtually guaranteed superior reliability.

A chip, exhaust and Gen2 HPP and you would be having a blast. Faster, lighter car with a little bit better milage. The 3.2q we have is nice but it is nowhere near as fun as my MKIV R32. I see the 2.0tq being comparable but in a non-boy racer kind of way. Very sleepy!
