Default Coolant System Issues

Driving home from work on Friday and the low coolant light came on in my '06 A3 3.2 (11,000 miles). Pulled over and check my coolant level which was slightly bellow the min line. I called my dealer and they told me I could add water and bring it it. They said I would be fine as long as the engine didn't start to overhead. So I added about 1/2 a pint of water and headed to the dealer.

Got the car back today. Turns out it was a faulty sensor that caused the indicator light to go off. They told me everything else with the coolant system is fine (couldn't explain why it was bellow the min level though).

Despite what they told me, I'm concerned about the fact that I added water to the system (I didn't want to do that in the first place). Anyone think I could be doing damage by driving around with a coolant/ water mixture?

Thanks!

Default Your "coolant" is a 50% coolant/50% water mixture

It is fine.

Default G-12 coolant,....

g-12 coolant is available only from your vw/audi/lambourghini/bugatti dealer. don't use any other coolant, even if it says on the jug that it is compatible with all types, or certain colors, etc. DON'T.

your empty coolant system is filled with a dilution of 50% G-12, and 50% water. 60% coolant is max, 40% coolant min, allowable. in a 'low coolant' situation, if you cannot add 50/50, then add pure distilled water to get up to proper level.

only issue by putting water in is that it may freeze if you are in sub zero temperatures
