Default Couple of iPod connection Q's

Will my Dension ICE Link work with the new style concert head unit?
Does the factory iPod connection allow more than 5 playlists?

Default Excellent, thanks

All I need to do is decide if the extra playlists are worth the cash!

Default Extra playlists may not be worth it ...

If you plan to have a passenger navigate playlists for you, then that is best done on the iPod itself where you can see what the playlists/artists/song names are ("New Orleans R&B" vs. "No. 4").

Because the head unit display of iPod info is lame or non-existent depending on the adapter and the mode you use, the best solo technique is to have a good playlist which contains everything you might like to hear while driving. Name it something that forces it to the top of the Playlist menu so it is easy to find without taking your eyes off the road. Then if you hit a tune that doesn't fit your mood, just use the steering wheel controls to advance one track.

If those methods appeal to you, then there is no reason to have capability of accessing more than one playlist via the head unit.

Default How do you get the head unit to display anything from the iPod

I have the symphony (double din) with DICE T2 hooked up in the glove box.

Default It doesn't--you only get CD number and track number.

There isn't any provision in the protocols used to transfer any other information--remember that the iPod adapter essentially make it look like a CD changer to the headunit.

Default Actually DICE T2 has an option ...

... to sync the display with the iPod so you get correct track numbers within a playlist and running times and also playlist numbers (no text), but it is slow and clunky and I turned it off.

Default Thats what I'm thinking

I've got the ipod set up with 5 playlists each of a different style, with about 100 tracks each, works ok you soon get used to which list is which and approx track numbers.
