Default Yeesh? First owner and no miles to speak of on the "new car" right? How did you break it in?

How many miles overall?

Default I would't worry about it too much on a brand new car its gonna happen

and unless you know exactly how much oil they put in it may have just been where they filled it too.

That would also still be in spec.

Default I think it crazy the amount of oil this these engines go thru.

Do all turbo cars use more than NA vehicles?
My truck has 50 000kms on it...it gets close to redline a few times daily and it hasn't burned a drop of oil ever.

My A3...40,000kms and I've added about 8 quarts total between oil changes.

It's possible your car was a little low when you picked it up...mine was down a 1/4 when they did my last change. (Audi's way of saving a few $ or it burned that much on the way home..lol)

Default Yeah turbo cars use more oil

The high vacum that the inlet draws for the PCV system sucks up alot of oil. Also some is almost always burning through the turbo seals and even if you are good to it they run much hotter so its gonna burn off a little with just normal use.

The 2.0ts seem to have a really crappy PCV system and that is probably the biggest contributor.

Default I don't get it; I've got 2 cars - one broken in gently around town,...

with a biweekly romp after 2500 miles. The other broken in on a 1500 mile trip, rpm varied from 2200 - 3300 with frequent stops of 2 -20 minutes. Both cars had oil change at 2500 miles, and neither uses any appreciable amount of oil. Consumption rate appears to be about a quart every 4-5k.

Default I've got an 98 A4 1.8T, which is certainly not the 2.0T, but...

...in 120K miles it has never burned a drop (as far as I can tell) of oil.

It's been chipped much of it's life, run hard at the track and otherwise, and I've always used (since 10k miles anyway) Mobil 1.

Default They have a pretty weak PCV system on those..

no valve cover connection spot which is where all the hot oil vapor goes.

Right now I'm at 5781 total miles. 1/2 quart low is very surprising. It was a show room car when I bought, it only had delivery miles compiled from it's drive between Stevens Creek and Livermore Audi. Other than that, I'm the only driver and I followed Audi break-in as described in the manual.

My Bimmer doesn't burn a drop of oil, even at 62K miles.

Excellent point, the dealer may have slightly underfilled. I didn't check it then, so it may already have been .5 quart low.
