Default Delivery times

After reading a couple of threads earlier on in this forum. I have
become a little concerned about the delivery time for my new
UK spec S3.

I ordered it about a month ago from Holland and the dealer there said
delivery time would be about 12-14 weeks. Is this true, or is it!
likely to take longer than that. Also, anybody else who has bought an
A3/S3 this way or ordered one from a dealer here in the UK, could you tell
me how long you had to wait.

I am patient, but after ordering it I'm having trouble thinking about much
else but driving it

Thanks.

Gary.

Default Can't help - but got a question...

Hi Gary,

I think I'd be constantly thinking about an S3 if I'd ordered one!

Did you go out there yourself and do the ordering, or did you go through an import company in the UK? Just out of interest.

Cheers,

Alan.

Hi Alan,

I've Ordered the car through an Audi Dealership in Amsterdam, they
have a guy there who deals with all the cars going to the UK. The garage
takes care of all the paper work over there and all you have to do is
go and pick it up (When it arrives!). The only problem with buying
a car straight from Holland is they want quite a large deposit before
ordering (20%-25%).

Other than that, the garage is a 15 minute taxi ride from the
airport and 1 1/2 hours to Rotterdam port / or 6 hours drive to the tunnel.

The car is costing about £21500 - £22000, depending on the exchange rate.

Pretty cheap...

Default You've got a good deal...

Hi Gary,

Good deal! Bloody hell! 21-22 grand for an S3. My A3 cost about 21K in the UK, what with paint, air con, cd changer etc. Rip-off Britain eh?!

No wonder you can't wait, though. Awesome looking car the S3.

If you've gone through a dealer then things should go okay shouldn't they? But it would be interesting to know what times UK people are being given. Could you go into a UK Audi dealer and say, "if I ordered an S3 today, what would be the delivery time, approximately?"

The estimate the UK dealer gave me for the delivery of my A3 was bang on to the day! Admittedly, I'd ordered the car, and they gave me the date a few days later.

Cheers,

Alan

I have checked with my local dealer(Whites in Camberley) and a factory order now will take 5 months.
Their allocation for the year has virtually all been sold.
They have access to a couple of demonstrators and their owm ,Imola yellow but otherwise standard, is currently available.
14 weeks seems like quick !
My A3 1.8T was a stock vehicle and took 7 days
My wife's A4 1.8T quattro took 9 weeks

I wouldn't rely on the 12-14 weeks, but it may be correct. It seems that Audi have had some production problems that are hopefully now solved.

I originally ordered an A3 1.8T from Holland at the end of June last year and was told that production would be in September. September came and I was told that it would be delayed until January this year, but I could have an S3 in November. After much persuasion (not!) I changed the order to an S3. Since then I have been given dates for production in December, January and February. I have now been told that the car was made last week and that when it gets to the Dutch importer they will be able to give me the chassis number - that's when I'll start to believe it's really happenning!

Delivery seems to be unreliable. My local dealer is quoting 16 weeks for a S3 with no discount and all extras full UK price. I've got a S3 on order with a German dealer which I ordered at the beginning of Dec, it is supposed to be delivered week 12-14 which should be at the end of March. I live in hope but will not be surprised if the date slips. The price in Holand sounds about right if it includes extras and the pound holds up.

Gary,

I took delivery of my S3 from a German Dealer last friday (03/03). The original order date was at the beginning of October 1999. There was a 4 week delay whilst Audi decided whether or not to fit their ESP as standard to S3's as well as the TT's. They obviously (and in my opinion wisely) have decided to err on the cautious side and fit it, as my S3 has it installed. I had to pay an extra £200, so be warned. Also note that you get an ESP button on the dash, so you can switch the program off if you want some fun in the wet/snow.

It certainly was worth the wait. So hang on in there.

Andy.
