Did you consider an A4 before settling down with the A3?

Just test drove the car again today....My heart is with the A3
The dealer here in Toronto is giving me 4% off..which I was told is a fairly good deal, of course unless I can find a better one..

but that is why they call it an accident.
surely weight is not the most important factor in safety BUT you cannot overcome the laws of physics. you can compensate for less mass with better body construction etc. but KE=0.5mv^2 and p=mv cannot be changed.
so for me, more mass, and therefore weight, is important.

How about trying to avoid the accident in the first place with a lightweight, nimble car?
This "more is better" logic(?) is what led to the pathetic, overweight cars out there now. You also realize that while saving yourself, you are putting the other driver at a higher risk. Let's say the accident is your fault, your additional mass plows through the other car and kills the driver. Still believe more is better? You think about it while on trial for vehicular homicide.

about why i considered more weight as a benefit.
some accidents are unavoidable. furthermore, i am not the only driver of the car.
there is no question to the logic if you get down to numbers in regards to collisions.
i agree that cars are way too heavy. if everyone drove lighter cars or there was a regulation of max. weight of a passenger vehicle, i would be all for it.
and while i am concerned about others on the road, but yes, at present, i still think a heavier car in its class is better. your approach has not changed my view.
at the same time, i never said that weight was the most important thing. in that case, i would drive an H2 or ford excursion.
while i considered weight, i also considered many other factors. within the class of cars we decided to focus on, weight became a factor.
lastly, i think it is pointless to "argue" or discuss this point because you seem set with your view just as i am. so, it is now like politics, religion, and football here, let's let it pass....
