My '06 A3 is in for repair (cracked vacuum line) and I have an '07 as a loaner. The trip computer on the loaner has a digital speed speedometer screen that my '06 doesn't have. Was this added in '07 or is there a way to turn it on in my '06?

you can code it to display speed in km/h (not MPH) on the radio display:<ul><li><a href="http://oooo-a3.blogspot.com/2006/06/vag-com-coding-reference.html">http://oooo-a3.blogspot.com/2006/06/vag-com-coding-reference.html</a</li></ul>

It was a fairly convoluted install. I bought a Fortin CAN-VSS module to convert CAN-BUS messages to analog speed and tach signal which go to the DEFI VSD Concept HUD. But - the CAN-VSS outputs a tach signal as if the engine was 2 (?!) cylinder car which the VSD doesn't support. But the DEFI control unit that goes w/ their gauge pack and hooks into the HUD can support 2 cylinders so I bought that as well to get the tach signal. So I have speed, tach, and two shift lights. The only downside is that the HUD is slightly delayed from the dash board. This is either because the CAN-VSS is slow doing the conversion or because I tapped the comfort CAN-BUS lines instead of the instrument cluster CAN-BUS. Haven't done enough testing to be sure yet... Overall I'm very happy with it.
