I was wondering how dirty everyone's exhaust tips get. Mine seem to turn black on the bottom on the outside of the pipe really quickly, like within a couple weeks of cleaning. Is this normal? Is this because our cars consume so much oil? I'll get a picture up tomorrow as soon as I can if I need to.

try Mother's metal polish with a clean cloth. Then, slap a coat of wax on it.

These cars run fat, or rich. Just get some metal cleaner...wipe on, wipe off!

Good to know, thanks for the replies! You'd never know that was normal because all the pictures on here are of ridiculously clean cars. I'll never move anywhere without a garage again.
