Do wheels with a polished finish look tacky? You know, the finish that is shiny like chrome.

I wanted some BBS wheels but the only available finish was polished. They look like CH's. So picture CH wheels essentially in chrome but perhaps not as mirror-like.

These would be sweet on a black A3 if they werent $4400 just for the wheels.<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v407/jefexx/?action=view¤t=wheelsperformancecom_1929_265 51731.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/jefexx/wheelsperformancecom_1929_26551731.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

that make it almost matte. Looks like silvery satin ribbon.
Next is polished, which is quite shiny, but not quite as mirror-like as chrome.
An finally there is ball polished, which comes very close to chrome in shine but is made by tiny ***** striking the surface, and thus not a glassy smooth as chrome.
In each of these cases, make sure the wheels have been clear coated, otherwise keeping them nice is a real chore.
As for how they might look, it depends on the colour of the car, the size of the wheel, and if it's been lowered or has other accents that might tie it into the overall effect (like polished mirror caps).

and the way alot of custom wheels come (HRE, iForged, Maya, etc.). Now, would you like that is the entire wheel had the finish of the lip? That's the question.

personally, I am not a fan of entirely chromed out wheels, way too much bling and negative attention. Polished lip wheels look great in my eyes though.
I would say if they didn't immediately strike you as gorgeous, they likely will not grow on you. Don't settle for a finish you're not thrilled with, have some patience and shop around!
