Default Maybe an ABS who has gone through the training will pipe up?

A number of websites mention "-Speed Manually Interactive Adaptive Automatic Transmission With Overdrive"

Default Hand-off from one gear to the next is what matters to the driver.

Not the processes leading up to the shift.

Default I would hope it's because it has the next gear down preselected instead of next up.

i.e. ability to do a sudden downshift and GO! If you're shifting at low rpms, who really cares how reactive it is.. not like you're racing around a track like that

Default I haven't really felt "delays"

But when downshifting it does do it sequentially.

Only disconcerting thing is in sport mode when it downshifts after turn in or at the apex of a corner. I have noticed that a couple of time at driving schools.

Default It doesn't

All 3 transmission programs are user selectable...Drive, Sport or Manual/Paddle.

Default Re: Fastest tranny in production

Please consider removing the sexy babe photos from your sig. When they came up at work, I had to exit the page and clear my cache immediately. If a manager saw that over my shoulder, or found it in my image cache during an audit, I'd be fired, instantly. I'm lucky I wasn't being monitored at the time.

Default So the marketing blurb that says "adaptive", is just a marketing blurb?

That's going to get somnebody in trouble - as are the incorrect specs in the various manuals and build guides.

Default Alternatively, you can go down the page, select "preferences"

and then choose to not view any sigs at all. An added feature is that pages load much faster:-)

Default Its not the first time it has happened.

Another user on here reported that he read dealer literature on the A3 that said the 3.2 VR6 uses a timing belt, when it obviously doesn't...

In drive, the car is going to attempt to shift economically, so it will upshift for economy. Don't expect it to do anything else other than being smooth and economical when in Drive. In Sport mode it holds the gears longer, throwing economy out the window. And manual mode is the most fun and most gas wasting, depending on driver of course.
