Maybe I'm really ignorant and am missing something but I can't seem to make my wiper blades separate from the windshield. Are these wipers different from most? I noticed this when cleaning off the windshield at the gas station and they don't want to pull away w/o keeping one hand on them. Very annoying. If there's a trick to this please tell me!

I think however there is a service position. If you shut the car off and hit the stalk after you shut it off they wil go halfway up the windshield and stop. This should allow you to angle them up..
Modern cars are moving them more and mroe under the hood for better aerodynamics.. And as they get smarter are able to have parked positions and working positions so that they don't go back under the hood when operating. If you pull of the rain tray you will see a whole computer just for the wipers..

worked with the door open just for the record.
Key in on position.. turn off and pull out key
hit wiper stalk down once
Wipers will go up to halfway on the windshield
You can then lift them away from the windwhield
Key back in the on position stalk down once and they drop back to the rest position.
I tried hitting it up didnt' work so its only if you do it to the momentary position.
I actually found this by accident when I bumped it getting out of the car a few weeks ago.

I find it rather difficult to grab and pull out the wipers when washing, always affraid I'm going to drop them on the windshield. On my A4 you can't pull them randomly, first one of them, then the other, since they kind of overlap when stationary.

But for some reason the other day with the hood up they would not move.. I want to confirm I didnt' do something else.. but it makes sense since in some cases the wipers may hit the hood when up, but also anoying for trying to remove the wipers.
