Default DVD based NAV+

Does NAV read from the DVD continuously? I was wondering about the possibility of burning some MP3's to a blank DVD and being able to listen to them and still be able to use NAV.

Default As far as I know...

It'll only read mp3 files off of a CDR. The nav is disabled once you remove the DVD.
Load mp3's on SD memory cards. It is the best way because you can always add or delete as you please. I use a card reader and 512 mb card, I can load over 70 songs.

Default I heard the DVD must always be in the drive for

NAV system to operate. I don't recall whether the drive can be used for anything else such as audio in case you didn't need the NAV. Seems rather pointless to me anyway. Answer to your question is yes, it does continously read from the DVD nav disc.

the RNS-E reads both "music"/normal CDs and MP3 CDs, but will not read DVD except the Nav one.

that's correct, the map DVD has to be in in order for the Nav to "navigate".
