The Ebrake and Armrest are horrible. Good vent. I feel better now.

Now that's odd, I had an A4 for a loaner as well and

thought those switches were harder to reach/less convenient than the ones in my A3. Personal preference reigns here I think.

Got my e-brake handle replaced under warranty

they gave me the whole, "this isnt really a warranty item but...". now, i am just super careful with the the console. it really is an astoundingly silly piece of design, especially given the rest of the car.
