So I'm driving back from the gas station and the engine just conks out I mean started running rough for a couple seconds and then it just conked out luckily I'm across the street from my house. Hooked up a diagnostic to it and it's giving me 01314-013 ECM intermittent.

when I go to start it it really sounds like it wants to start I mean it sounds like it's right there in the bridge of kicking over but it just will not kick over and my buddy who knows a lot more about cars than I do maybe suggested that it isn't actually the ECM despite what the diagnostic says. Has anybody seen or experienced anything like this?

ECM replacement apparently averages anywhere from 800 to 1300 which I'm trying to avoid paying
