Faulty Diverter valve?

The sound you hear is normal - every 1.8T engine car I have driven has this slight whoosh sound - the DV failure (or whatever you want to call it) manifests itself as the valve staying open and the boost pressure being constantly vented / recirculated without going into the manifold - therefore if your car had this problem there would be a VERY audiable noise when on throttle, i.e. not lift off, and you would have limited power. Also FYI - the problem seems mainly to affect the 225bhp engines and 180bhp failures are very rare.
I'm sure yours is entirely normal - especially as on the road it was just as quick as mine! ( even with dicky air mass sensor!)
