Default finally time for a decision on lowering...

I have been quoted £100+VAT to lower my A3 with Eibach springs _including_ fitting.

This is a very good price, but I am still unsure whether to go ahead on the grounds of:

1. I have been told the car will be bouncy unless I get the shocks done as well, is this true?

2. The front of the car is quite low as it is, and often the lower front bumber hits the road when pulling out of various driveways etc. Do I really want to make the problem worse?

3. The ride quality at the moment is fabulous (as long as no corners are involved ;-&gt

BUT, if I do get it lowered the car will look 10x better than it does now, and handle better (if it isn't bouncy...)

Much advice welcome!

Default That realy is a good deal.............................................. ...........

Go get it done, the springs will reduce the wallow of the car when cornering and going over bumps etc. For instance if you drop over a speed bump at the moment the front bumper scrapes the ground, but this should be reduced with the springs.....due to less bounce on the drop (If you get what I mean!).

A 30mm drop will not adversely affect your comfort level, but will make it a far better car to drive! The standard shocks will be fine with the Eibach's on and there is no need to change them unless you really wish to improve the handling further.

My Eibach's are in the back of my car at the mo, and when I get back to the UK they will be fitted prior to GTI International.

Hope to see you at GTI international, look for a Dutch black A3T (Oettinger chipped, EBC brakes all round, 30mm Eibach drop and facelifted rear lights, amongst other things), if you go of course.

Default Just do it

If that's a genuine offer then just do it. I did the same, and coupled with the 15mm spaces per axle, it not only looks great but is a cost effective way to improve the standard S3's average handling.

Was that £270 including shocks? I should hope so because what I was quoted was just for springs...

Hi!

I have changed srtuts ans springs for my A3 1.8T 2001 180 Hp, I choosed eibach and bilstein and my car looks great. My Golf VW 1994 has same since tree years ago and really works good.

I saw on my A3 that rear tires are closer to chasis than front tires, but all car has same distance to floor, Do you have same on your cars?
