Flushing Oil?

Flushing Oil?
Hello, I had recent problems with Oil pressure warnings on my '02 A3 1.8T. I turned out to be a dirty oil filter which I had replaced with a generic part from a local garage, they replaced the oil with generic fully synthetic oil that still causes intermittent audible warnings (although much less frequent at about 1 per day), I've put this down to the cheap oil that they used, so I have obtained Castrol SLX Longlife 2 SAE 0W-30 (the Audi recommended oil for the car) and an original Audi oil filter which is going to replace the current fitted filter, I am wondering if I should use flushing oil to remove traces of the oil in there currently, or should I just drain the oil and replace with the Castrol SLX?
thanks in advance

Re: Flushing Oil?
The best way to change the oil is to heat the engine up then turn it off and drain the oil. The purpose of doing this is when oil is cold it's thicker and dosen't move as easy, so when you heat it up it hins it out and allows it to run out freely.
You should never put oil in an engine that isn't recomended by the manufacur, if you decide to put the worng viscocity of oil in the engine it will eat the engines big ends main bearings camshaft infact it will eat every moving part.
When you fill it up with the correct oil if you are still having oil pressure problems it will proberly be because the engine has been eaten, if the oil pressure is OK then you have been lucky

Re: Flushing Oil?
The incorrect oil was not in the engine for a long time (2 days) and it was fully synthetic 0W-30. I have replaced the oil and filter for Audi recommended parts and I have driven the car 200+ miles today, all is OK, no audible warnings.
BTW How can I get the engine management and service indicator light cleared? Is there any non Audi place I can get this done in London? or should I just buy a VAG-COM?

Re: Flushing Oil?
If you want the audi service indicator light cleared try an approved BOSCH garage, they should have the equipment to do it. But it will have to match up with the service stamp in your log book.
