Default Woot! We don't get those colors down here.

I might be selling my Nikon D70 body soon.

Nikon, it's the way to go. AS for camera bodies, all the major brands are comparable, however when it comes to lenses it's all about Nikon, best glass out there.

Default In my circles, it's Canon FTW, but opinions are like...

At a large software company that makes a popular image editing application, the software engineers on that product seem to prefer Canon hands down. I think Canon makes their own image sensors too, but Nikon farms it out.

But both Canon and Nikon are good.

Default Re: agreed....looking at D40/D40X

One thing to be careful of, is some of the newer Nikon DSLR's don't support the older lens style that doesn't have a built in focus motor. All of my lenses are of that old style so I can't use a D40/D40X. (well I could, but then there would be no autofocus) I do quite a bit a photography work so let me know if you have any questions.

Default I have Olympus E-500

Canon and Nikon are the two biggies. I guess it depends what you are going to do with it to decide which one is best for you. If I had to do over again I would probably go with Canon. The quality of high ISO pics on Canon can't be beat. I take a lot of pics in low light situations so that's the main reason I would go with Canon. The photo club I'm in is a pretty even mix of Canon and Nikon users with a few oddballs like me and my Olympus thrown in. My Olympus isn't a bad camera at all, I just think Canon might be better for the type of pics I usually take.

Default ashtray delete and R8 pics

Oh I was just looking at your pics on Flickr a few days ago before I joined this board and was amused by the ashtray delete thing. I'm a big Flickr fan. I haven't posted my car pics on there yet because I'm waiting till after Saturday when I unveil my car to my Flickr group at a Garage shoot. I haven't told them what I got yet and don't want to give it away by posting pics of it. I did take some pics of the Jimmy Barrier's R8 though.

Default first of all, i think those shots look great, daddy. in terms of photography...

i feel that it's more important to focus on "photography" itself (theory & techniques) instead of the gear. great gear undoubtedly would produce great pictures (quality wise from a technical standpoint), but a poorly composed shot from a $10K camera is still a poorly composed shot. on the other hand, one could produce an exceptional shot by using a disposable camera...having said that, i prefer canon when it comes to dslr...
