That little car is very very fast, but unfortunately for its owner and lucky for me not "that" fast. Even it lasted only a minute or so, head-to-head with that car requires full concentration. The Clio RS costs half the price of my car, but our 0-60 times are almost identical. 150-180bhp A3 owners: watch out! don't even try to take on them. John, you might give it a try, and if you do, drop me a line (and whatever you do, don't miss even a 1/10 second on gear changes, or it'll kick your butt)

Default Already been there......

Didn't see it as much of a threat really, he'd vanished from my mirrors within a minute or so!
Ask Al how good my gear shifting is!

Default Not too impressed

fast yes, but very peaky power delivery - the engine feels like a standard 1.4 low down. You are right that you have to use every last rev or trucks will be hassling you in the mirror. The interior is horrid - I have seen boy racer novas with more taste (i haven't really thinking about it but you get the point) and the handling is nout to rave about - understeer leading to unpredictable oversteer - not in the same class as a 306GTI / 106GTI / Saxo VTS / integra R

my thoughts are that the engine has caused the hype - if it had 140 bhp or so it would be another anonymous hot model in the range (the clio williams was a good exception however) and the end of the day it is the numbers (power, 0-60 etc) that make it great - the drive is dissapointing (have you ever heard such a poor engine note in a performance motor???)

I'd buy a vts saxo and mod the engine to 190bhp!!
