Default Help, please.

what is this thing? saw it dangling, so I got under there and took a peek. looks like a rivet/bolt broke. the black rubber cap has a small ball joint inside. I only found it on the driver side rear. will my car blow up?

Default Its for HID leveling. Looks like the ball joint/bolt broke.

There is one on the driver side front, and one on the driver side rear. Your HID's probably don't level properly. I would guess installer error. Its easy to get the "elbow" on for the rear leveler to face the wrong direction while putting the rear suspension back on.

Default how do I fix it?

you are correct, the HID's are not working properly. and there is some wiring going to the elbow.

Default You need a new "arm" or new "ball joint". Call the dealer. Easy diy if you have the parts.

If I remember correctly, there is a nut that goes on the other end of the ball joint. Make sure the elbow is facing the correct direction. Add a drop of loctite for good measure.

Default BTW....would this be a warranty repair....

or should I think someone would say an aftermarket installer damaged it? The bolt looks rusted. the suspension was done 9 months ago.

Default I wonder if it was installed improperly. Apparently it is really easy to do so.

Quite a few people on the MKV forum of vortex mentioned that they installed it wrong, thereby giving funky readings to the xenons. It could be that yours broke simply because it was installed wrong + the amount of load you carried in the rear.

Default NP . . . read about it in quite a few xenon adjustment threads.

Finally got off my *** and reset the parameters for xenon adaptation. Quite nice when your lights stop pointing at the ground whenever you carry a little load.
