G12 is an OAT based coolant, so is Dexcool . . . but there are plenty of differences between the two when it comes to anti-corrosive additives & anti-foamants. Have you ever mixed "Dexcool" & G12 together? You get nice brown chunkies depending on brand.
Just so you don't start up more crap . . . . G12+ is a HOAT based coolant, so i G05 . . . . again, diff additives.
Yes, you can use either G05 or Dexcool, but only if you completely flush the system of G12/G12+ . . . . I would not add either of them to G12/G12+. Also, I make no comments / assumptions on seal compatibility and waterpump longevity with the non-OEM coolants.
Also, do a bit of searching and you'll see what type of character Audi Junkie is.

you know your isht and I know that but 2 of the answers you posted to this thread didnt say a thing.
If you dont get a generic "dexcool" (ie one bottle that claims to be ok for everything) then he can read up on what Audi Junkie posted and make up his own mind. If the car is in warranty, Id stick with OEM like Dave said though.
Ive personally been running dexcool mixed with G12 for about 2000 miles, no brown chunkies.

Seriously, do a search for a post started by bhvrdr in the B6 forum. It'll truely show how much your favored AJ knows.
There is one Dexcool derivative that claims to meet G12 specs. Can buy it at walmart . . . . but I wouldn't mix.
