Hi All - Anyone fitted any larger brakes, like 4pot Brembo's etc to their A3/S3??

I was wondering what was involved...in fitting a set of calipers - like 4 pot Brembo's. The kits are a lot of money to buy off the shelf. Does anyone have any experience in fabricating carriers/mountings?

I surpose this is after your track day experience ?.
The weak link that stop the fun early. You can get some Pagid Blues for the A3. These have a pretty good reputation and might get you a few more laps. However as Palmersport found out the stock set ups even on S3's is crap. Might also be worth looking at braided hoses, uprated discs and Fluid.
Ive upgraded brakes on previous and present cars to Brembo and Alcon set ups, but not on A3/S3. The difference on a track day is amazing. The knowlege that you can break at the same point lap after lap is great. The weak link now becomes the tyres which will start to go.
If I end up going back to the S3 I will look on brakes as one of the first upgrades.

Thanks for comments - in reality i would just like new pads as the frequency of track use is such that I would not benefit from an expensive disk / caliper and pad combination - plus I'm trying to hold onto my 3 year warranty despite the ECU upgrade! The brakes did not fade out as such in a dramatic way, but smoke and smells pointed to the fact they were very nearly at combustion point (chap in front in a 300bhp S2 did set his brakes alight) and they haven't been quite the same since!
Tyres - yes, Michelin Pilot HXs became molten too leading to big blisters and rubber deposits in the arches! Seems to have worn off now after a few 100 miles but they were not nearly so impressive as the pilot sx gt michelins on my old Saxo - they didn't blister at all! I was also surprised at how much blistering there was on the rear tyres, considering the amount of understeer - interesting?
Do you know if the Pagid pads have the wear sensors built in and also, any suggestions for a better road tyre - or is blistering the norm on the A3? track was only 15degreesC in the morning rising to 22 in the afternoon
Cheers

Have a look at EBC Green Stuff pads, ther is a review on the Perfomance Forum.
Not tried them myself yet, but keeping my wheels dust free and better braking to boot! I think I will.

Hi guys,
Certainly a lot there to chew on!
I have heard that the Pagid pads have a "backing" that distorts under very high temps, but the guys couldn't tell me whether these were the Blues or not.
I am going to do more research into my original idea of Porsche calipers. I have sourced a set, and will now be doing all the rest of the homework... Will let you guys know how I get on.
As far as tyres are concerned, I used to race my VR6 Mk2 Golf on the sprint, in UK as well as Holland/Germany. The surprising this is, the Yoko's were ok, but a set of Falken GRB's was better - more grip, and longer lasting! Now, however - on my A3, I run Bridgestone S02.
These are very highly rated indeed!!
