Default No A4 because...

I'm not so keen on the looks. Personal preference unless we are talking about the S4 Avant!

Actually for the price I could pay for the A3 I could get a really good deal on a similarly spec'd A4 Avant. The A4 avant just doesn't do it for me.

I hear what you are saying about BMW. It definately doesn't handle as well it just feels more ....I don't know ... more plush and finished. It feel's like I'm getting more car for my money.

However for sheer fun and good looks I prefer the A3. But if the BMW dealer offers a good deal then .....

Default Not beating up the dealer ...

I wouldn't say I am beating up the dealer. I just like to know where I stand before I spend a lot of money. Call it the Scottish in me.

I'm so on the fence the dealer could swing it one way or the other but I'll take what I can get. I'm sure they are used to people looking for the best deal. That's what I'm looking for.

BIMMER or BEEMER let's just put it down to the accent.

Default Re: BMW with better build and finish quality than Audi?

Yeah I guess I'm being subjective. It's only how it feels when I sit and look around. I've no hard facts one way or the other.

Default My dealer let me take the A3 home for the night!

That closed the deal for me. They asked that I leave my car on their lot overnight and then I could take the A3 home and return the next evening. I must've put at least 100 miles on it :-)

I'm grateful to my sales person for letting me do that and it scored the extra points.

No, Bimmer is for their cars and Beemer is for their bikes.

Default Wow dealer invoice - not much margin

I just checked the dealer invoice on cars.com. I must say this is the first time I've seen a comparison for MSRP and invoice. I thought the mark up was a lot more.

Someone is making the money if it's not the dealers.

Default Drive them back to back, there is a noticeable difference.

the xi is a pig. It doesn't take track speeds to notice this, a highway onramp will do.

The x is more like a Buick than a BMW and know as the poseur 3.

That was 2.0T though - 3.2 is more rare.
